Toccoa River
For most of our guided trips, we end up fly fishing the Toccoa River from a drift boat somewhere in between Blue Ridge and Chattanooga.
The Toccoa River, originating in North Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest, flows north into Blue Ridge Lake and provides some nice fishing opportunities Spring through Fall with a state-designated “Delayed Harvest” stretch of water for catch & release trout fishing.
At the north end of Blue Ridge Lake sits Blue Ridge Dam, marking the beginning of the Lower Toccoa River and the world-class tailwater section where we run the majority of our trips. The cool, clear water released into the Toccoa River from the bottom of the dam provide primo brown and rainbow trout habitat, and because water flow and temperature remains fairly consistent all year long, we end up with a thriving trout population and excellent fly fishing each month of the year.
Toccoa River fly fishing trips really offer it all – high numbers of trout per mile, prolific insect activity, stunning scenery, and its proximity to Chattanooga & Blue Ridge make it a must-do adventure for anyone visiting the area.
